Frequently Asked Questions
Basics
Corrio, SPC is a telecommunications service but not a telephone dial tone provider like the phone companies you’re most likely going to be familiar with such as GTL, Securus, Telmate and many others. Corrio Messaging is a service that works in conjunction with the phone companies that are contracted to provide a dial tone. What makes us fundamentally different is that we’re a Social Purpose Corporation, hence the reason why we have SPC in our name.
Corrio Messaging is available in all county jails and detention that allow prepaid calls. We’re also available in all state prisons except Texas. All prisons, including state and federal (ICE), county jails and detention centers operated by private contractors such as CoreCivic and the Geo Group are fully supported by Corrio Messaging. We also support federal prisons operated by the BOP (Federal Bureau of Prisons).

Messaging
It’s simple! It all starts with a phone number we assign for you, and the incarcerated person you support, to use. For the person on the inside, it's basically the same as calling any other familiar number. Note: Corrio Messaging does not allow collect calls. All calls must be prepaid debit calls or advance pay/connect inmate phone accounts. For example: calls made to a phone number assigned by Corrio Messaging from a facility with inmate phone service provided by GTL must first setup a prepaid calling account for the inmate to use to call anyone on their approved number list using a PIN Debit phone account or an AdvancePay phone account, you’re creating a prepaid collect calling service that allows an inmate to only call your phone number using deposited funds. Similarly, Securus Technologies (like GTL) offers Inmate Debit and Advance Connect. Inmate Debit is a prepaid calling account that gives inmates the ability to pay for their own telephone calls. Inmate Debit allows you to add funds directly to an inmate's calling account without having to set up your own account. Advance Connect is a prepaid calling account that puts you in control of your spending and allows you to receive calls from correctional facilities serviced by Securus Technologies.
We charge $5.95/month to maintain the phone number we provide, 25 cents per message left and 10.5 a minute to use the Corrio system. Please see this page.

Yes. But you must do your part to keep messages private by not allowing anyone you don’t know or trust to use your mobile phone to call your inmate's Corrio number. Inmates must keep their numbers private and not share them with other people inside their facility.
Corrio Messaging does not allow collect calls in the traditional sense, but we do support prepaid collect calls which is the confusing
name given to prepaid calls by some inmate phone service providers.
